1. Poem
If i become your coral bead ,
A coral bead , a scarlet coral bead ,
I would caress you all day long ,
And melt , like snow in the sun .
I wish i were your coral bead .
And melt like snow in the sun .
If i became your silk shawl ,
If i became your veil .
I would caress you all day long ,
Like the pearl in your necklace .
I wish I were your silk shawl , your veil ,
A pearl in your necklace .
If i became your guitar ,
I would sing for you ,
If i became your guitar .
I would sing serenades to you ,
And be your beloved .
If i became your guitar ,
I would sing serenades to you ,
And be your beloved .
2. Legend : Akhtamar
Every night , some stranger ,
In the dark , without boat
Makes his way to a small island
In the middle of lake Van .
He makes his way boldly
Through the heavy waves .
Directed by the strong and bright
Shine of the remote light .
Night by night the faraway light
Radiates promise and love .
Night by night , hidden in the dark ,
Tamar is waiting for her beloved .
The delight that awairs him
Helps the lover fight the heavy waves .
Seeing his Tamar wrapped in passion
Waiting for him in the dark .
It is worth all the waiting
When they thrown themselves
In each other's arms ,
Feeling like angels in heaven .
Yet tomorrow will come ,
And again the light will signal promise .
Everything will be the same :
The love , the delight , and the dark .
But the secret love was soon revealed
By some jealous enemies .
They put down the light ,
And the lower lost his way .
All frustrated were his hopes ,
To see the familiar light in the dark .
Pulling all his strength together ,
In vain he tried to find his way .
As the sun broke though the dawn ,
The water brought a dead body ashore .
On his face a frozen grimace ,
"Akh , Tamar ! " the dead lips said .
Many years have passed since then .
Still the island keeps its spell .
Gloomily , it raises over the water ,
And is called Akhtamar .

2. Legend : Akhtamar
Kazhdoi nochyu k vodam Vana
Kto-to s berega idyor ,
I bez lodki sred rumana
Smelo k ostrovu plyvyot .
On moguchimi plechami
Rassekaet lono vod ,
Privlekaemyi luchami
Shto mayak dalyokii shloyt .
Kazhdoi nochyu iskry sveta
Manyat laskoi tainykh char :
Kazhdoi nochyu , tmoi odeta
Zhdyot ego k sebe Tamar .
On plyvyot navstrechu shchastyu ,
Smelo boresta s volnoi ,
A Tamar , obyata strastiu ,
Zhdyot evo vo tme nochnoi .
Ne naprasny ozhidania ...
Blizhe , blizhe ... vot i on !
Mig blazhenstva ! Mig svidaniya .
Sladkikh tainstv raiskii son !
Zavtra snova ozhidaniya ,
Tak zhe iskritsa mayak ,
Tot zhe chudnyi mig svidania ,
Te zhe laski , tot zhe mrak .
No razvedal vrag zhestokii
Tainu Lyubyashchikh serdets ,
Byl Pogashen svet dalyokii ,
Tmoi zastignut byl plovets .
Ne zaiskritsa , kak prezhde ,
Mayaka priver rodnoi
I v obmantchivoi nadezhde ,
Byotsa , byotsa on s volnoi .
Na rassvete vstali volny
I primchali bednyl trup ,
I zastyl upryok bezmolvnui
" Akh , Tamar ! " sred mertvykh gub .
S toi pory minuli gody .
Ostrov polon prezhnikh char ,
Mrachno smotrit on na vody
I zovyotsa Akhtamar !
