* * *

* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *

Wind and Water and Stone
The water hollowed the stone,
the wind dispersed the water,
the stone stopped the wind.
Water and wind and stone. The wind sculpted the stone,
the stone is a cup of water,
The water runs off and is wind.
Stone and wind and water. The wind sings in its turnings,
the water murmurs as it goes,
the motionless stone is quiet.
Wind and water and stone. One is the other and is neither:
among their empty names
they pass and disappear,
water and stone and wind.
From "The Labyrinth of Solitude"
...
if only for a moment -- by means of creation."
''With Eyes Closed"
With eyes closed
you light up within
you are blind stone
Night after night I carve you
with eyes closed
you are frank stone
We have become enormous
just knowing each other
with eyes closed
....
From "Return"
...
We never say
the words of the poem
The poem tells us
Touch
My hands open the curtains of your being clothe you in a further nudity uncover the bodies of your body My hands invent another body for your body
Between Going and Staying
Between going and staying the day wavers,
in love with its own transparency. The circular afternoon is now a bay
where the world in stillness rocks. All is visible and all elusive,
all is near and can't be touched.Paper, book, pencil, glass,
rest in the shade of their names.Time throbbing in my temples repeats
the same unchanging syllable of blood. The light turns the indifferent wall
into a ghostly theater of reflections.I find myself in the middle of an eye,
watching myself in its blank stare. The moment scatters. Motionless,
I stay and go: I am a pause.
Brotherhood
Homage to Claudius Ptolemy
I am a man: little do I last
and the night is enormous.
But I look up:
the stars write.
Unknowing I understand:
I too am written,
and at this very moment
someone spells me out.

Toucher

un théâtre spectral de reflets.Dans le centre d'un oeil je me découvre;
il ne me regarde pas, je me regarde dans son regard.L'instant se dissipe. Sans bouger
je reste et je m'en vais: je suis une pause.
