Mr. Victor took so long to get back to us that I had discarded his initial overture, thinking him to be a washout.  Anyway, you know the score - blah blah foreigner died in South Africa blah blah lots of money.

He gets an enthusiastic reply, with a helpful suggestion.

Dear Mr. Victor:

I received and read your offer with great interest.

If I may say so myself, I am equal to the challenge
you have set forth.

However, I have one suggestion: rather than wait for
you to arrange leave time from your position, perhaps
I should travel to South Africa. My job allows me a
great deal of flexibility, as well as cheap air travel
to anywhere in the world.

Please let me know if this is acceptable to you.
