ART - This year in art we did lots of
activities. These are some of the activities we did: sun
pictures, masks, bad dream pictures, night pictures with
scary stories, and making up an animal never found before.
At the end of class, we played games.
MUSIC - In music, we sang songs and
got ready for the Spring SING. We did a play called "The
Selfish Giant". We sang a song at School Meeting for the
moms and dads who helped us. For the Festival of Lights, we
sang "Santa Lucia".
PHY ED - In phy ed, we played games
like Wizards and Galflings and Dinosaur Tag. Our units were
basketball, baseball, tennis, gymnastics, and track and
field.
LIBRARY - We watched videos, read
books, and checked out books.
SCIENCE LAB - In science lab we did
lots of activities which had to do with science. In science
lab we sorted shells. We had a lab that had to do with
water.
GUIDANCE - We talked about friendship
and made a friendship chain. We watched videos so we could
learn more about friendship. We made friendship buttons and
gave them to a person whose name we picked out of an
envelope. We wrote a paragraph about that
person.
READING - For reading we read books
and did literature circles with discussions. We wrote about
things that happened in our books. We drew pictures to
match. We read books for Reading Counts.
SPELLING - We had 32 units with 8 or
12 words on pretests and 12 words on our unit tests. We
studied for spelling tests by doing Big Activity, Flip
Folder, Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe, Spelling Sentences, and
Spelling Sorts.
HANDWRITING - We learned cursive.
Sometimes we used cursive, other times we used
printing.
WRITING - In writing we made
Imagination Station stories. Almost every day after lunch
recess, we wrote in our writing journals. We had writing
tests so we can be better writers.
MATH - In Math this year we did
Journal pages. We did 106 Math Boxes and we did 102 Math
Home Links. We learned division and multiplication and
adding and subtracting.
SCIENCE - We planted Brassica,
sunflower, and bean seeds. We planted the seeds and studied
them. We studied air and weather.
SOCIAL STUDIES - We had 6 units in
Social Studies. Our units were: We Belong to Many Groups,
Where We Live, People Make History, We All Work Together,
Being a Good Citizen, and Our Neighborhood Near and
Far.
iMAC LAB - We learned how to save and
how to type better. We memorized how to get into KidPix by
ourselves. We learned how to use KidWorks Deluxe
PPC.
2K WEB PAGE - When we do projects for
the web page, we have to cooperate in groups to finish them.
When we are done writing on the web page, we draw pictures
to go with it. On the web page, there are photos and we had
to write about them.
