Crickets singing, stars shining and, all was well with the world I was in.

By Lois Bierman

I was outside last night, looking at the beauty of the milky way. Oh it was simply wonderful, just awesome. I thought about the angels that get to see it more closer than we do. Thinking about back at creation how they rejoiced over it. How beautiful it must have been. I was enjoying the smell of the flowers drifting through the night air, and just getting caught up in the wonder of it all. I wondered about far off galaxies that we can not even see, and those that with powerful telescopes we have pictures taken from them. How small we are in the universe. Yet we are His children, blessed, loved, and just as He knows the stars by name, He knows even the numbers of the hairs on our head.

I looked up into the heavens and called out, and said, "Maker of all the heavens, earth, seas, gulfs, waters, and fountains of the deep, and all living things in them, it is you I worship, and it is your Son that is my salvation, my master of masters, my owner or owners."

He was right there listening, hearing every word. It was wonderful to look up and see the expanse of heaven, and talk to the Master of time, Master of all things. I thought, time, yes time belongs to Him too. I belong to Him, and put the two together, I am His in all ways, and in all things. Life or death I am His, and He still was master over the situation. That was nice to think about, no reason to fear death, as He was master of it too.

I thought about the time that the creator of all I saw coming down from heaven to dwell with man. How new heavens and a new earth were going to be created. I looked at the heavens and asked, "Father, will we have stars, they are so pretty to look at?" If what we see now is beautiful how much more so will the new heavens and new earth will be.

I lay there with binoculars gazing into the heavens seeing patterns, planets and stars, that looked like I could reach out to touch them, and in touching them I was touching their creator. I listened to crickets, spiders singing, and other insects of the night calling out in the dark, and all was well with the world I was in at that time.
