In 1998 I realized that more and more children in Karakol did not attend school and started begging in the streets. Therefore, I started an organization called Ladybird. The main objective is to support the education of children. After some preparatory work during one year, in 1999 the first child was supported to attend school again. After only few years there are more than 30 children in the program. They are all from poor families that have not enough resources to send their children to school. Now all of them attend again the public school and they get some addition tutoring in different subjects if required from the Ladybird team. Ladybird is also covering the school fee for the public school if the parents cannot afford it.

In addition to the regular monthly food baskets which is given to the children, we also involved to solve some special medical cases.

The Ladybird team consists of one administrator, one bookkeeper, one cashier, and myself, who is mainly doing the fundraising and control of funds.

The staffs are all part time basis with minimum payment. Ladybird is registered under the Kyrgyz law, therefore we need to keep a very strict account and control and even have to pay 2% tax.

Few local woman volunteers are supporting the activities. They visit the children, make sure they have adequate clothing for winter and utensils for school. Volunteers act also as tutors and mentors for the children.

The support for the children is covered by sponsors whom are mainly friends and relatives of our friends. Sponsors are supporting one child or more if they wish for the duration of one year at the time. The basic cost of one child is estimated 120 USD per year and with this we make sure every month the very essential product is bought and distributed directly by our team member to the children.
