Hino Rei, or Raye Hino, is perhaps the most misunderstood character in the entire series. While most of the blame goes to the hideous DiC dubbing job, alot of it is fans not giving her more of a chance. In the begining of the anime, Rei is seen as the ill-tempered, jelous girl among the group. She doesn't have alot of patience and its't one to beat around the bush. Her out-spoken nature and inability to trust often give her the appearance of someone who doesn't care. As the series progressed DiC lined up flaw after flaw, never giving the viewer a chance to see the Rei Naoko-sama had imagined. All we see is our first impression, so when Rei does gradually change, we are so set in our first image of her, we can't seem to look past what she used to be to what she has become.

Although it is often over-looked by Rei haters, the bond between her and Serena is undeniable. While most would say

that they hate eachother, that is completely wrong. Nothing that Rei does is out of hate for Serena. When I think of this friendship, the term "Tough Love" often comes to mind. Rei has never had many people who cared about her in her life, so she doesn't know how to act. What she lacks in people skills she makes up in her unfaltering desire to help those she cares about. And Serena is at the top of that list. Thereis no one that Rei cares about more. Whenever Serena is in danger, Rei is usually the first one to lay her life on the line and the last one to leave her side. And vice versa. They would do anything for eachother, or any other of thier friends. Another reason that people say Serena and Rei hate eacother is becuase of the fact that Rei once dated Darien. Sure, they went out a few times, but as soon as Rei found out he was Endymion, Serena's soul-mate, she stepped down in the face of destiny. Rei was even the one who tried to convince Evil Prince Darien to remember his love for Serena.
