Vincent Valentine grew up in the city of Midgar and became a Turk at the age of 20. He was a Turk for many years before he met and fell in love with Lucrecia. She was his assignment. He was to protect her while she studied the uses of mako for weapons. Soon he fell in love with her, but would not tell her because it was against Turk policy to become involved with clients. There was another man in love with Lucrecia, and his name was Brian Hojo. Hojo told her how he felt and before Vincent knew what happened Lucrecia told him she was getting married. When Vincent told Lucrecia that he also loved her Hojo became insanely jelous. So jelous in fact that he shot and killed Lucrecia in front of Vincent, then he shot Vincent. Hojo thought that tourture and mutilation was a better punishment than death for Vincent. Hojo relieved Vincent of his left arm and put a golden claw in it's place. After that Hojo put Vincent into a deep sleep that could only be ended when somone opened his coffin. Hojo then placed Vincents coffin in the basement of the ShinRa Mansion, thinking that no one would ever find him there. When his revenge was finished Hojo turned the gun on himself, ending his own life.As a result Vincent ended up with a few vampiric qualities. Although he is not a real vampire he is amazingly perceptive, can levitate and detests the sun, crosses and all other christian things. Vincent believes he will never love again, which is why he wasn't prepared for Princess Leta.
