Unlike the rest of the Sailor Senshi, Rei is a priestess in traing at the Hikawa Jinja (Cherry Hill) shrine. Because of this she is extra sensitive to the energy around her. She can use this ability to sense evil before it has appeared to the rest of the scouts.

Rei can also do fire readings. To do this, she site in fromt of the Great Fire and meditates. Usually, in front of the fire Rei can see visions of the future or get answers to her questions.

Rei also has Ofuda's, or anti-evil scrolls that she uses to banish evil spirits. They are thin strips of white paper with the words "Evil begone" in japanese on them. She shouts "Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Sai, Zen. Akuryo Taisan!" and thrown them at the forhead of her opponent and it either vanquishes evil or paralyzes he enemy.
