| Sephiroth grew up in the town of Junon and had a relatively normal life. When he was 16 he met and fell in love with a young girl named Brea. She was a stong willed girl who thought that she didn't need any help and that she could take care of herself. She had long black hair and purple eyes. (Remind you of anyone?) They were together for six months when tragedy struck. Rufus ShinRa wanted Brea to be his substitute until he could have Rei, so he took her. Sephiroth was furious and tried to get her back. Rufus almost killed him, but at the last moment Brea threw herself in front of Sephiroth and took the death blow. She told him that she loved him and made him promise to go on living and find the one he was truly supposed to protect. Sephiroth held Brea until she died. Rufus then took Sehiroth's sword and wounded him. This left Sephiroth with a scar across his chest. Sephiroth has never told anyone about Brea. When he meets Rei, and see's how much she and Brea have in common, he feels like the only thing in this world he was meant to do was protect Rei. |
