Bosk
Though similar in build to the Yak of earth the Bosk bears the heavier form of the buffalo of earth and like him, provides, food, leather and many of the needs of the people of Gor. The meat may be roasted or broiled, dried, stewed or served in a myriad of ways.

small mammalian creature, similar to a weasel or ferret in shape, which eats insects. Commonly kept inside a domicile to keep bugs under control. Friendly and curious animals.

Armored gatch
A marsupial mammal which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi

Giani
A large mammal of solitary habits which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi. They are normally cat-sized panthers, not dangerious to man

Hurt
A kangaroo-like animal whose wool is used for cloth, bounding, 2-legged marsupial, similar to a kangaraoo, replaces it's wool 4x/year, used to make cloth.

A simian mammal which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi

Kaiila
Picture a velociraptor standing 20-22 hands high, covered with a silken fur..vicious from birth, deadly, sleek and carniverous and fast. Capable of covering 600 pasangs (7/10 of a mile=1 pasang) in a day. The eyes are triple lidded against the sand storms of the desert regions.

Kailiauk
Stocky ruminant, stocky, tawny with red and brown stripped markings on haunches, having 3 skewer-like horns; stands c. 20-25 hands at the shoulder, short-trunked heavy ruminant with wide head

Two-stomached snow lart
A mammalian animal with four legs, that is about 10" high, and weighs between 8-12 lbs. It hunts in the sun. The food in the second stomach can be held almost indefinitely. It is filled in the fall and must last the lart through the winter night, which lasts months. It eats bird's legs and preys on the leem

Larl
mountain predator
huge standing to 7' feet at the shoulder, tawny red or black in color - lion and leopardlike, it keeps to the mountains, but on occasion will raid human habitations. They sable black have a mane..bothmale & female, and there is also the maneless tawny red. Where the females are generally smaller, they are very dangerous, carnivorous.
jungle
Less dangerous to man, than the northern variety, inhabitant of the rainforest.

Leem
a small arctic rodent, some five to ten ounces in weight, which hybernates in the winter... it's furs are sold by the Red Hunters

tiny serpent, about 12", of brilliant orange with incredibly virulent poison reptile of about a foot in length. It is highly poisonous and its bite can mean death in seconds. Ones of rainforests inland of Schendi are red with black stripes.

Less dangerous to man, than the northern variety, inhabitant of the rainforest.

Quala
Small, dun-colored, 3-toed small mammal with a stiff, brushy mane of black hair; pl. qualae

wedge-like head, whiskered snout, lizard-like body with 6 short legs, mammalian, the young average about 8' long, full grown averages about 20' long, the deadly hunting dog of Gor..a cross between a weasel and a Komodo dragon furred, with fangs that drip a deadly poison. 6 legged and tencious they can track a trail days old as if it were fresh..rending and killing the object of the hunt. Sleen are pack animals and cared for only by thier Masters so that they are not befriended by the slave who may try to escape.

sly, nasty, and dangerous if not properly controlled, often kept as sinuous pets by Free Women. It is this creature that is the cause of the derogatory reference in calling someone a "sleen" or "she-sleen"

Small, fleet tabuk.. more than 20 varieties are found in the rainforest.

Tarns
enormous relatives of the earth Golden eagle..some with a 50' wing span..they are bred in 2 types...War Tarns- heavier but agile, trained to aid in battle...and Racing Tarns- slender, lighter birds bred for speed and endurance. Racing Tarns are also used by messengers to go from one city-state to another.
