The Scoob's Chronicles
HOME
Sept 15, 2007:  Well after last weeks rainout there wasn't much for Jim to do and he was so bored he even moped the trailer floor, now that's bored. But we get to the track without any problems. Jim gets unloaded and goes to draw for position and gets a 19. Hmmm might not be a good night but he ends up in the 1st heat 2nd row inside. On the start of the heat, Lee Jones who had the pole didn't get started and Jim was parked in Lee's rear bumper. No harm but Lee didn't get restarted so Jim gets to start on the pole. The track was still fairly slick and at the checker Jim was in 3rd. When he gets back in the pits Jim had noticed the car really wasn't running quit right. So between him and Pokey they decide a carburator change was made. They also confered with one of crate model owners about what  to do and they made a dicision and went with it. Well feature time and Jim gets to line up row 3 inside. After the start coming thru turn 4 Jim gets to go 3 wide with him in the middle and the 21 car of Bill O'cain unfortunatlly was on outside and he got the wall after bumping with Jim. Again no harm. Well a couple of yellows and a red for a car fire ( no one hurt, thats good ), Jim is coming out of turn 4 in 3 place with 2 to go and Lee Jones overcomes his earlier problems, slides up on his inside and they go thru turns 1 & 2 side by side with Lee getting the position coming outa turn 2, but going into turn 3 out comes the yellow. On the restart Jim gets jump on Lee and holds the P3 for the finish. After going thru the scale house, Jim learns there is a protest on the winners car( this could be good). After a short time the winner realizes his car wasn't right and conceeds the win. This puts us in SECOND place. Now tonight we were also running for TRIPLE POINTS, and end up 2nd within the chase cars and that puts us in the POINTS LEAD! How kool. With next week being the final points race and after playing with some numbers, the worse we can finish is 3rd in points. Thats not bad for starting the season in 13th position. So Jim has got his work cut out for him this week. Me, I think I'll be taking some long naps watching. See ya next week at the 'Park.

Sept 28, 2007: Well here we are at the end of the season. Jim comes into this race leading in points. The worst he can finish is 3rd by just taking the green flag in the feature. There is also a possibility of a 2 way and even a 3 way tie. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here.  After getting to the track, Jim's goes to the pill draw and pulls a 27!  But it turns out good as he lines up 2nd row outside for the heat right behind and old friend and occasional helper Bill O'cain. On the green Jim and Bill take off and become 1 & 2. Jim's a little quicker but with the track being a little slick he's having a hard time trying to get around Bill. Jim actually gets into Bill one time and backs off some, no need to wreck anything and comes in 2nd. Well between the heat and feature Jim and Pokey check out the car, adjust the carb some and are satisfied they're ready for the feature. Featuire time gets there soon enough and Jim lines up 2nd row outside again. With the green flag waving, the top 2 in points are all running together. After and early caution, Jim lines up behind Bubba Nations (the 2nd place car in points comng into tonight). At the green they're off and are joined by Bubba's brother Adam. A coule of laps and another car comes outa turn 4 and gets crossed up trying to pass Jim and they get together. Jim saves it going down the front straight but the car is no longer handling worth a dog bone. Jim finds a line to make the car work and finally finishes 6th, which is good enough to finish 2nd in the final points 5 points out. Jim said he's not gonna complain after starting 13th at the start of the season, not getting a feature win, gets to lead the points standings for week and finishes 2nd. Who's gonna complian?  So now we get to take the car down to chassis, fix up, improve some, lighten up some and in general get it ready for a shot at it all next year. The is one more race Oct 12 and 13th, but Jim figures the car is basically in one peice, the motor needs freshining, Judy has a few honey do's that needs to be done and it was a blast racing this year. Let's just take it back to the shop and start on next year. I hope I'll still get my Scooby Snack's right JIm?
Any way come on out Oct 12 & 13 at the 'Park. It's gonna be a blast for sure. See ya then.
