Masonic Times Article – January 2002 Issue

Dear Brethren,

Happy New Year!

Third Degree & the Shrine Degree Team

Our last meeting of 2001 on December 10th was indeed a memorable event. The evening started with what is rapidly becoming a legend in its own time – W:. Tom Goodrich’s & DSA Kel Kelsey’s steak-dinner feast. There were over 50 Brothers attending the dinner and the conferring of the Third Degree, including 25 members from the Past Masters Degree Team of the Shrine Damascus Temple. The Shrine Degree Team did a wonderful job in putting on the degree. Special thanks to all the members of the team. It was truly impressive.

Christmas Poinsettias

To help bring a little more cheer to the Christmas holidays we sent cards to all our widows, and on December 15th members of the Lodge met and delivered over 30 poinsettia plants to our widows living in the Rochester area. Thanks to all the Brothers who participated in the distribution of the plants. There was good fellowship and our thoughts, words and actions for these special ladies were well received and greatly appreciated.

Table Lodge

On Monday, January 14th, our first meeting of 2002, we will hold a Table Lodge. For this program we will open Lodge at 6:30 PM, have dinner, then proceed with business beginning at 7:30 PM. W:. Tommie Richenderfer is taking a leading role in the planning of the event (Thanks Brother Tommie). It has been a while since we had a Table Lodge, and those of you who have been to one know they are a lot fun. If you haven’t attended a Table Lodge before, this is a great opportunity to do so. I know you will enjoy it. Hope to see you there!

A Walk About the Lodge

At our meeting on Monday, January 28th, we will conduct "A Walk About the Lodge" for our newly raised Brothers – Brother David Green and Brother Patrick Hillis. This program, created through Grand Lodge, is designed to familiarize our new Brothers with the organization and protocols of the Lodge. It is an interesting program.

Consolidation with Flower City Lodge, No. 910

Also, at our meeting on January 28th, we will be holding a Summoned Meeting in which we vote to ratify the Agreement of Consolidation of Fairport Lodge, No. 476 and Flower City, No. 910. [Note that you will receive formal notice for the Summoned Meeting by first-class mail.]

Ratification, adoption and approval of the Agreement of Consolidation requires an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members PRESENT and voting at the Summoned Meeting. My Brothers, I encourage you make every effort to attend and participate in this important and historic meeting of our Lodge.

Have-A-Heart Campaign

The 14th Annual Monroe District Have-A-Heart campaign for the Ronald McDonald House will run this year from February 2nd to February 14th. The district goal is to raise at least $10,000. This year, booths will be set up in Eastview, Marketplace and Greece-Ridge Malls. Fairport Lodge scheduled to man the booth at Eastview Mall on Monday, February 4, 2002. On February 4th, we need to cover three shifts: 12 noon – 3 PM, 3 – 6 PM, and 6 – 9 PM. For each shift we need to have at least 2 people present, however, having at least 3 people during each shift is highly desirable (family members and friends are also welcome to participate). My Brothers, this is a worthy cause, and your support would be greatly. If you are able to help with this year’s campaign, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can put the booth schedule together.

Brethren, I hope 2002 brings good health, happiness and prosperity to you and your family.

Finally, as always, if you have any questions, suggestions or comments, or know of a Brother in need of our aid or sympathy, please let me know [phone: (716) 223-2828; e-mail: morrisGM@corning.com]. Come join the good fellowship, see you in Lodge!
