Important Parking Information
Please be aware that the Mason's Passage Parking Committee and Tri-State Management/Koger, along with the Board, are currently monitoring vehicles that are continually parked in guest parking, and ultimately, violating the Parking Regulations that were passed in the Fall of 2004. If you are violating this policy, you will be notified, and proper action will be taken.
Also, Fairfax County Police Department has the authority to tow and ticket vehicles that are in violation of county parking guidelines. These include, but are not limited to, parking on grass, parking in the street and in fire lanes, parking in the sidewalk, etc.
Lastly, a reminder that as of October 1, 2004, a towing company has been patrolling the community and is authorized to tow away vehicles that are parked in a prohibited manner, such as in a fire lane. This is intended to address the congested parking situation in our neighborhood and provide greater safety as cleared streets enable free access by emergency vehicles and life-saving equipment in cases of emergencies. Homeowners are encouraged to use their garages and driveways for parking.
If you are towed, please call 703-691-2131.
Garage Usage
As mentioned in previous newsletters, please note that there is a County ordinance that requires garages to be used primarily for parking vehicles and not as living or storage spaces. If you are using your garage for storage instead of as a parking spot for your vehicle, then you are violating this County ordinance, and contributing to the parking congestion in the neighborhood. IN SHORT, PLEASE MAKE A CONCERTED EFFORT TO CLEAN OUT YOUR GARAGE AND MAKE USE OF THAT SPACE FOR YOUR VEHICLE!
Missing Fire Lane Signs
As a part of our Bond Release process, it was discovered that over 50 Fire Lane signs are missing throughout the community. If you removed one of these signs, please turn it in! Please leave all fire lane signs at either of the tot lots by March 27, 2005.
Trash Removal
In February, the Board signed a 1-year contract for trash removal with AAA. Services will continue with the same pickup dates and times. Please refer to the FAQ on the website for information on the type of trash, items available for recycling, and instructions on disposal of yard debris and large items.
Also, trash may be picked up by AAA as early as 6:00 AM. If this time is not convenient, i.e. too early, please be sure to place your trash by the curb the night before pick-up (after dusk).
Neighborhood Watch
Mason's Passage currently has a Neighborhood Watch e-mail list. If you would like to be on this list, you will automatically receive a Police Incident Report each week. Also, you will be notified via email of any significant crime issues in our area. If you are interested, please send an email to Bob Mills at Rmills26@cox.net.
Mason's Passage Website
Just a reminder that Mason's Passage website changed to www.masonspassage.org. You will be redirected to the new website if you continue to use the previous web address of www.oocities.org/masonspassage. Also note that Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) have been added to the site.
Architectural Review Committee Guidelines
We will soon be conducting the Spring walkthrough of the community. If you are in violation of ARC guidelines, you will receive a letter and a warning notifying you of your violation. All violations must be corrected within 30 days of the notification.
Child Safety/Conduct Issues Within Mason's Passage
Once again, the Board and Tri-State Management/Koger have received some complaints about the conduct of the youth in our community, and need to let you know, as homeowners, about these. There is an overall concern by some in the community for the safety of the children. There are often times where very young children are seen in the community playing by the pond, which is extremely dangerous. The pond is not a play area. Additionally, there exists a problem on some streets in the community where groups of children are playing in the streets on bikes and scooters, without any parents in view. Ultimately, if these are your children, they are in danger of being hit by oncoming vehicles. Please be sure to have your children play in appropriate areas, i.e. in nearby parks, the tot lots, the grassy field to the right of the south tot lot. We want the children of our community to be safe, and we need your help as homeowners and parents to make that happen!
Noise Violation
It has been brought to our attention that some homeowners are allowing their dogs to bark continuously. Please be advised that it is considered a public nuisance and anyone may report it to the Fairfax County Police Department. The first time, a warning will be issued, the second time, a citation will be issued, and the third time, the police may make an arrest. Please be considerate of your neighbors, we would like to keep this a place where we can all get along.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Have a Happy Spring!
