Annual Picnic / Block Party
Initial planning for the third annual Mason's Passage Block Party or annual picnic is taking place. There will be a discussion at the annual meeting as well as a sign up sheet for volunteers to help with planning and preparation.

Shutters
If the shutters on your home are down, Ryan Homes may be able to repair them. Please contact Latrice at Ryan Homes at 703-497-3203.

Grounds
There have been some questions about a tree that was cut down in the wooded area behind the townhomes on Seafarer Way. We have learned that the developer cut this tree down at the order of the County, in compliance with the instructions of the County Arborist. Per those instructions, they left the cut tree in place to decompose naturally.

With respect to the recent incidents of graffiti on both HOA and private property near the pond, these have been reported to the police. The HOA feels that we need to form a Neighborhood Watch for the community, which will be discussed at the annual meeting.

Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers! Please consider volunteering for one or more of the following: Neighborhood Watch, Parking Committee, Architectural Review Committee (ARC), or Capital Improvements Committee. This is your community and your participation is needed to make it the kind of neighborhood of which we want to live in.

Parking
The HOA passed a new parking resolution that will go into effect October 1, 2004. The parking resolution will be mailed with the September invoice. Please review it carefully. As of October 1st, a towing company will be patrolling the area, and if you are parked in a prohibited manner, such as in a fire lane, your car will be immediately towed. This is for the safety of the entire community to allow vital equipment access in case of an emergency. Homeowners are encouraged to use their garages and driveways for parking.

Garage Usage
Please note that there is a County ordinance stating that garages are only to be used as garages -- meaning for the parking of vehicles and not as living or storage spaces. If you are using your garage for storage instead of as a parking spot for your vehicle, it not only contributes to the parking congestion in the neighborhood, but is also a violation of this County ordinance.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, have a wonderful Fall!
