2002 STATE CONVENTION INFO

The 2002 Massachusetts JCL State Convention will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As you can tell, this is a two-day convention. This year's convention theme is

"Magnos homines virtute metimur, non fortuna"
We measure great men by their virtue, not their fortune

MassJCL chapters are encouraged to attend State Convention. There are numerous events that allow each delegate to test his skills. There is a graphic arts, creative art, athletic, and academic contests.

Chapters are no longer restricted to have a limited number of students in each event. Now each chapter can have as many delegates participate in each event. However, each delegate is restricted to only two academic tests and two creative contests. Delegates may enter as many atlethic and pre-convention contests as they wish. The top 5 scorers in each category will receive a ribbon. The top 3 scorers of each contest (i.e. academic, creative, graphic, and athletic) will receive a medal. The top 3 delegates who receive the most points and who have at least one ribbon in at least three of the four contest area will receive a trophy. For each contest, a delegate will receive 10 points for first place, 8 points for second place, 5 points for third place, 3 points for fourth place, 2 points for fifth place.
