The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 when female descendants of American Revolutionary war patriots were denied admission to the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. The goals of the organization are Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education and Patriotic Endeavor. Learn more about the NSDAR at www.dar.org.
Our chapter is the result of a merger of the Massy Harbison and Fort Hand chapters in July of 2002.
Fort Hand Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in 1929 by forty-six women. Its name comes from General Edward Hand. Its founding regent was Mrs. Samuel G. Henderson.
Massy Harbison Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in 1941 by forty-two women who named it after a local pioneer woman. Its founding regent was Margaret Rugh (Mrs. Alexander) Henderson.
