Antonin

A little hunting palace built in the years 1822-1824 for Prince Antoni Radzwiłł, governor of the Grand Poznań Duchy, belongs to the most original works by the famous architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It is a wooden building whose shape, construction, and style resulted from the author's endeavors to create new architectural forms; a trend characteristic of the early 19th century period. The palace is considered to be one of the most remarkable works of contemporary European architecture. The great Polish composer Frederik Chopin, stayed there as a guest in 1828. Now the carefully reconstructed palace houses a hotel. The vast park gradually turns into a forest. Close to the palace stands the Radzwiłł family mausoleum, probably designed by Schinkel.
