A renaissance ducal castle surrounded by a line of defensive walls. The originally Gothic building was remodeled in the years 1544-1560. About 1550 a special entrance building was erected at a certain distance from the front elevation, the most characteristic element of the Brzeg castle. The renaissance form of the castle was completed with very abundant sculptural decorations carried out in the years 1551-1553. The sculptures come from the Italian workshop of the Parr family. Reconstructed after World War II, now the castle houses the Museum of Silesian Piasts. |
