Bytów

A fortified Teutonic knights castle raised by Nicolaus Fellenstein in 1398-1406. Destroyed by the Swedish army in 1656. Since the 18th century it slowly went to ruin. Partly reconstructed after 1945. It is one of the last castles built on the Polish territory by the Teutonic Knights, therefore its design considerably differs from the system of other medieval fortresses. Now it contains a western Kashubian Museum and a hotel.
