A Teutonic Knights' castle raised in the years 1305-1311. In the early 17th century the castle belonged to Princess Anna, the sister of King Zygmund III Vasa who ordered it to be remodeled. It was partly destroyed in 1655 during the Polish-Swedish war. It gradually went to ruin in the 19th century. The castle was rebuilt in the years 1959-1967. At present it has a joint form of a Gothic Fortress and an early Baroque residence. Tourists flock to the international tournaments organized on the castle premises. |
