A late Baroque complex raised in the years 1735-1742 for Voivode Michał Bieliński probably according to Józef Fontanta's design. The Zamoyski family took possession of the palace by the end of the 18th century. Konstanty Zamoyski had it completely remodeled in the years 1879-1907; the author of the new design was Jan Heurich, Jr. The elevations received a new shape, two towers were erected on both sides of the main palace body, and the interior decorations were changed. At the same time a chapel was designed as an imitation of the palace chapel in Versailles. As a result of all those remodeling works, a princely 19th century residence was created, perfectly suited to the tastes and needs of the epoch. Visitors can tour the palace as well as its store-rooms which contain numerous works representing the socialistic realism in the arts. |
