Łańcut




The palace of Łańcut is a magnificent aristocratic residence. Originally this early Barouqe palace sited within fortifications was raised for Kracow Voivode Stanisław Lobomirski in the years 1629-1641. In the 1680's it was remodeled according to Tylman of Gameren's design. Important works were undertaken in the second half of the 18th century at the instigation of Izabella Lubomirska nee Czartoryska. However, the works that decided about the present appearance of thet palace were carried out in 1889-1912 and commissioned by Roman Potocki. The interiors were modernized and the elevations designed in accordance with the patterns of French architecture. The works were conducted by Armand Beauque and Albert Pio, while the theatre hall was designed by well-known Vienna architects Ferdynand Fellner and Herman Helmer. The residence also comprised a winter garden, stables, a coach-house and a little romantic castle in the park. The palace shelters a number of valuable pieces of art including a statue of Henryk Potocki sculpted by Antoni Canova. Tha Łańcut palace is famous for its rare collection of period coaches.
