A Gothic castle of the Warmia Chapter rises on the right bank of River łyna; its construction was probably started about 1350. The castle administration was headed by Nicolaus Copernicus in the years 1516-1521. In 1520 he successfully forced back a raid of the Teutonic Knights' forces. The castle houses a Warmia and Mazurian Region museum which has on display a number of mementos connected with the great astronomer.
