Pieskowa Skała

The castle was erected on a rocky pinnacle hanging over the Prdnik river balley for King Casimir the Great. Later it passed into the hands of the Szafraniec family. In the mid-16th century, on the initiative of Sandomierz Voivode Stanisław Szafraniec, the late Gothic castle was converted into a Renaissance residence. After the death of the last member of the Szafraniec family in 1608, the castle was subsequently owned by the Zebrzydowski and Wielopolski families. Ruined in the 19th century, the castle was bought with the public funds and turned into a pension. After World War II it was reconstructed according to Alfred Majewski's design and a museum was arranged inside.
