True Story

My husband, daughter, and I had moved from Colorado not too long, back into the house that I had grown up in. I was renting it from my mother. My brother and his girlfriend were also sharing the house with us. The house was located in a quiet neighborhood, which was a nice change. Late one night, my husband was washing the dishes and he heard, plain as day, someone whistling. He said it was like a sexy whistle. He immediately turned off the water and turned around but no one was there. He went back to check on everyone. We were all sound asleep. He went back to finish the dishes. About five minutes later, he heard the theme song for MASH, the tv show playing right behind him. This startled him again so he went to see if someone had turned on the tv, but once again he found everyone sound asleep. He shrugged it off and went back to finish the dishes.

Within that same week, I was on the phone with my husband (he was at work) when all of a sudden we both heard the theme song for the Twilight Zone on the phone. We each thought the other was playing a joke, but neither one was. It was so crystal clear that it was eery.

We started getting a little concerned when our daughter started getting very adamant about not liking her room. She had all her favorite toys in there and had everything a little girl could want, but refused to play in her room and battled with us every night. We had never experienced this with her at any other time. She said she hated it and it was scary in there. She was three years old at the time.

We decided to ask my brother and his girlfriend if they had heard any weird noises or happenings recently before we moved in with them or even during. They both told us on several occasions that late at night they saw lights going on at the old house next door. They thought this was strange because the house was vacant at the time. They would look out the window a few minutes later and the lights would be out. I knew that when I was a little girl, an older couple had lived there and the older man had died in that house of natural causes. Could this have been his ghost?

This still didn't explain my daughter's behavior and the strange noises that my husband and I were encountering. Another strange thing we started noticing was there was a constant feeling of hatred and anger in the house. My brother and his girlfriend were constantly arguing. Soon my husband and I started getting on each other's nerves. Up until that point we were happy and content with each other. No matter what we tried, strong feelings of anger and depression loomed in the household. Even our dog seemed to be suffering. She had lost a lot of weight and was mostly skin and bones (even though she ate like a horse). She is a Pekinese (normally about 12 pounds). We fed her the best dog food and put extra vitamins in her food, but to no avail, she would not put on weight.

We decided to move as far away from there as we could. My husband got a job offer in Denver so we packed everything we could and headed for the hills. It's been 7 months now and we are as happy as we were when we first met. We have had a tiff or two, but only for a few minutes then we are back to normal. My daughter loves her room and spends a lot of her day playing in there with all her same toys.

After about 3 months of being in our new place in Denver, our dog gained so much weight she looked like a pot bellied pig. She was definitely back to normal.

We don't know what happened there or why. Maybe someday I will do some research on the history of that house, before my parents bought it in 1968. I would be interested to find an answer to this mystery.
