1 1/2 cups Barley flour (found in -- health food stores)
2 tablespoons Bonemeal flour (also found -- in health food store
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Baking soda
1 1/2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
1 Egg yolk
1/2 cup Milk
2 tablespoons Honey
The recipe is a variation on one from a book
by Frances Sheridan Goulart called BONE APPETIT, published by Pacific
Search Press in 1976.
Cream the dry ingredients together with the oil. In a separate bowl, beat
together the egg yolk, milk, and honey. Gradually mix into the dry
ingredients. Knead into a dough. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured
surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into any shape you like. You may
also find fone-shaped cutters at a good gourmet shop. Prick the bones with
a fork and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 375~ oven
for about 20 minutes. Turn once to brown evenly.
