These are some of the pictures that either myself or some of my family have taken of trains around the Herbert River district of the local cane railway. Where possible, a description for the situation for each picture will be given. The thumbnails for each pictures will open in a new window.

Seen here is Perth running around the Victoria Mill bin storage yard whilst on empty yard shunt duties on 22 July 2002.

Lucinda seen here on the full bin carrier line while on full yard shunt duties on 22 July 2002.
Hobart waiting for full bins to clear before heading out of the mill yard on 22 July 2002.

Seen here is Herbert II approaching the Victoria Mill bin storage yard on 22 July 2002 with 156 full bins. The last shot is of Brakevan 10 (built on base of ex QR wagon) after being cut-off from the rear of Herbert's rake.

Here is Maitland on several runs on 22 July 2002. The first is Maitland approaching the Victoria Mill bin storage yard with 235 full bins from the Abergowrie direction (entered yard right after Herbert II above). The last two shots are of Maitland pulling a short rake of around 20 full bins up the grade from the Danger Camp line behind the mill.

Note: Maitland had been taken off of express run duties for the 2002 season and had it's heavier brakevan swapped with that of Homebush II. This was due to Maitland having torque converter troubles and hence not having enough power for the express runs over the Herbert River (steep climbs for river crossing).

Shown here is Canberra entering the mill bin storage yard with a mixed rake of 10t and 4t bin from the 4 Mile/Nyanza area on 22 July 2002. The second shot is of Canberra leaving yard for the fuel bowsers.

Here is Clem H McComiskie passing through the Victoria 4-Mile triangle on the way to Lucinda on the 22 July 2002 with a load of sugar. This location was at the boundary of the Victoria and Macknade traffic control areas before the Macknade control area was moved to the eastern end of Victoria Mill yard.
Cairns and Perth cross paths as Perth heads back to the empty bin carrier line and Cairns heads into the storage yard to grab a rake of empties from line 19 before heading out to the Crystal Creek/Bambaroo direction on 22 July 2002.
Jourama in the same place as above, but with a new paint job, seen here on 22 April 2002. Note the area painted black around the fuel tank.
Clem H McComiskie just behind Jourama above on 22 April 2002.
