I will be adding a thought soon about about my memories about the Treasury Department, where my father worked while I grew up. For now I have a related remembrance of my childhood regarding one of the government-issue pens from that era. All pens and pencils were supplied by Skilcraft. In my turn as a counter-culture revolutionary, I used to make pen guns. I'm not too worried about posting this on the 'net for several reasons: the range is extremely limited, these pens aren't made anymore and I'm sure there are better weapons you can look up on the 'net.
It took me a bit of searching to find one of these pens. The one I found was missing the ink part. This is a problem when using the pen for traditional means. For pen guns this is a lesser problem.

disclaimer:
Abby Hoffman wrote "The only dope worth shooting is Richard Nixon." Even though he was talking about drugs, I think the same applies to the pen gun.
James & Kim's Fun Page insists that our viewers do not send in any home footage of themselves or others making or using pen guns. We will not open or view any submissions, so don’t even bother.
