Applications:

This is an extra low carbon grade of AISI 316. It is used in welded construction where intergranular carbide preciptation must be avoided.

Notes:

Heat Treatment - Heat to 1850 - 2050 deg F and then cool rapidly to anneal. This material can not be hardened by thermal processes.

Welding - Well suited for welding when using filler material that is either AISI 316Cb, 316L, or 309Cb. Annealing is not required after welding.

Heat Resistance - This material has good oxidation resistance when used intermittently up to 1600 deg F and continuously up to 1700 deg F. This material can be used in the range of 800 - 1575 deg F.

Hardness and strength calculations are based on annealed samples

This is a Austenitic stainless steel.
