Applications:

Free machining version of AISI 302. Typical applications include bolts, nuts, other machined products.

Notes:

Heat Treatment - To anneal this material, the steel would be required to be heated to 1850 - 2050 deg F and then cooled rapidly. This material can not be hardened using thermal treatment.

Machining - This material can be machined easier then any other AISI 300 series stainless.

Welding - This is not normally recommended, but if it is required, use AISI 308, 310, or 312 filler material. The welded area must then be annealed to restore the corrosion resistance.

Heat Resistance - When exposed to intermittent service up to 1400 deg F, or contunuous service to 1600 deg F, this grade will provide good oxidation resistance.

This is a Austenitic stainless steel.
