Angel, a 242 year old vampire, but he's not just any vampire he has a soul.

Born in 18th century Ireland, Angel was turned into a vampire by his sire Darla. Angelus, the demon, along with Darla, terrorized Europe. Angelus delighted in toturing his victimes, and loved watching them suffer in pain.

That was until he fed of a gyspy girl. He was than cursed with a soul, and years of torturing came back to haunt him. Angel brooded for nearly a century before Whistler, another good demon came to his rescue, giving Angel a purpose. Angel witnessed Buffy Summers being called, and swore to himself he would help and protect her.

The two quickly fell in love despite their destinies. On the night of Buffy's seventeenth birthday the pair made love, causing Angel to have one true moment of happiness. His curse had been broken, and Angelus was once again free.

Angelus made sure to make Buffy's life a living hell. Taunting her about their night together, killing her friends, and Jenny Calender, who had been working to recurse Angel.

Angelus determined to rid himself Buffy, even if the only way was to destroy the world, which he would do by bringing out Acathla. The only way to stop the world from going to Hell was to kill Angelus. Only just as she got the courage to do so, Angel's soul was returned to him, thanks to Willow. The two lovers shared a brief reconciliation. The two held each other, cried, kissed, until Buffy finally told Angel to "close his eyes" and sent her lover to hell.

Angel returned from Hell during the next season. With help from Buffy he returned to his good old self. He faced victims from his past, he had to pretend to be Angelus again in a test for Faith causing Buffy to need her space. He was shot with a poison, and forced to feed off Buffy. He decided it was in Buffy's best interest to leave town, which he did without saying goodbye after the pair defeated the mayor.

Angel left for Los Angeles, dedicating himself to the innocent. In L.A. Angel befriended a good demon with visions, Doyle. And employed Cordelia Chase as well. The three of them together set up shop and grew close.

A run in with a morah demon made Angel human and for twenty-four hours he was able to love Buffy the way he always wanted to. Both their dreams had finally come true. But the fates were cruel, and with his humanity he could no longer protect Buffy, she'd die. And so he turned back the day, the memory of it was his burden and his alone to bear.

Life went on, Doyle died a heroic death, passing his visions onto Cordelia through a kiss. Wesley, Buffy's old watcher came to L.A. Wesley was able to decipher a text, which spoke about Sanshu, his humanity and reward.

Darla came to town as well, and eventually brought out the dark side in Angel, and he eventually broke down and slept with her. Angel fired his employees, and went on a mission to kill Darla alone.

Angel finally came around and reunited with his friends, although this time he was working for them rather than the other way around. Darla came back into Angel's life again, pregnant with his son. Since there is no way that could be possible the gang researches only to find a prophecy about Angel and Darla having a child. Unable to deliver the baby, Darla stakes herself, leaving the baby for Angel to take care of.
