The motor coupling and transmission adapter plate are finally complete! The machinist
did a great job since everything aligned with wonderful precision. The major item left
is to fabricate a bracket to hold up the rear of the motor (held up by a rope in the
picture). The clutch even worked first try!
A washer was welded to the end of the hub to keep it from slipping down the motor
shaft when the clutch is depressed. The tach sensor is bolted to the adapter plate.
4 Grade 8 5/16" NC bolts go thru the spacer blocks to hold the adapter plate to the motor face.
The hub is secured with two set screws. Two set screws are used over the key, one on
top of the other. A single set screw 120 degrees away holds the hub on the shaft.
The flywheel is bolted to the hub with 6 3/8" Grade 5 NF bolts.
Note: be sure to operate the transaxle ONLY if something is inserted in at least one of
the transaxle outputs! We learned the hard way and had the output gears fall into the
transmission! Lots of bother to get them back into place.
