8/13/03: All walls which are below ground and above the basement floor need to be covered in
asphalt for waterproofing. This is where I finally get to start working, on a hot humid day. It
wasn't nearly as messy as expected although the tar is about the consistency of paint and was
applied with an old paint roller. There was enough for 2 coats since the rear wall is mostly
underground and thus didn't need waterproofing. There are 49 anchor bolts on the top of the
foundation. Most are at less than 4 foot on center with extras where the mudsill boards meet.
Even though not required by the building code for this area, I'm including the design elements
for level C and sometimes D1 earthquake protection. There are only a few items required beyond
the required wind tie downs, such as rebar in the foundation and closer anchor bolts.
