Information:
The Zea Urchin's primary mode of attack is to use
stealth and slowly move into position. And from there wait for the enemy
to move into range. It is capable of extreme depth due to is heavy armor.
It can carry a CZ command pod, or multiple units can be remotely piloted
from a single CZ. The CZ can also travel under it's own power. This Zoid
is an excellent choice for underwater surveillance, demolitions, and deep
sea salvage. Although a small Zoid, the Zea Urchin has strong armor, and
is quite sturdy.

Information:
This pair of Zoids was developed by the Guylos
Empire to disrupt enemy shipping lanes and to protect their own. Even when
the enemy knows this Zoid to be in the area, it is difficult to detect
and destroy. The CZ units normally operate from hidden command posts, or
are dropped off into an area by air or sea transport, and then move into
position. Once carefully positioned, the larger Zoid can be put in sleeper
mode, and operate on it's own for years at a time, monitoring and relaying
enemy traffic and movement information, or set to destroy enemy units,
based on sophisticated identification routines.

Inspiration for my model
|
This is the toy I started with.
|
| The main Zoid started out as a small Battle Bot
toy. It came as a two pack. I'd picked it up for the other bot, but this
one proved to be more inspireing. After removing the remote grip, I converted
the spring mechanism from pull cord to a "rotate and release" mode. The
entire center section can spin, leaving the bottom and top (CZ mount) stationary.
I also converted the panels on the sides to be flip out weapon mounts. There
are 124 spines mounted on the main Zoid and 16 on the CZ. The spines consist
of several sizes of metal pins from various computer and automotive wiring
connectors.
The CZ started out as a bubblegum machine canister.
I cut the dome shorter and dyed it green. The duct fans are from a Rhimos
escape pod and the seat is from a Maccurtis.
I painted the models black, and dry brushed with
several shade of purple. |
