Exams

General Examination: Begins from Equations up to the subject that we will see till exam week.

8A-8B-10A: On 29th April (1st hour)

8C-10C: On 30th April (1st hour)

Examination Procedure

1. Each week there will be an examination. It may be either a quiz, or a general exam. A quiz includes two questions, lasts 10 minutes and takes place on the first lesson of the week. Questions will be asked from the subjects and homework of the previous week. When you have a general exam, there will be no quiz at that week. A general exam includes 5 questions and lasts 1 lesson hour. Questions will come from the subjects of the semester.

2. It is recommended to read A Student’s Handbook Of Mathematics before taking exam.

3. Get ready for the exam. That’s, prepare your eraser, pen or pencil, paper, etc. Do not forget that you cannot use calculators.

4. You will not be permitted to go out during the examination.

5. Write your name, class on the paper while beginning the examination.

6. Both the questions and answers write on the paper. The order of answers is not important. Each question’s value is equal. For every question you must show all your work on the paper. Only result is not sufficient.

7. Cheating will be punished. Teacher has the right to take your paper and may inform it to the administration.

8. During the examination do not ask any question or talk to your friend.

9. You may ask for the results of examination after 1 week. But you have the right to learn them after 2 weeks (do not ask for the results before that time). You can find exam results and comparisons at the website below.

10. Each exam or quiz will be graded over 5.

11. You cannot learn your mark and look at your paper if you do not bring your dairy with you. To check your exam paper at a latter time is impossible. So have your diary with you always.

12. For each semester you can prepare only one termwork. The subjects will be informed at the website www.mathfair.cjb.net or www.mathfair.s5.com. Termwork will be given to the teacher 2 weeks before the end of the semester. After this date they will not be accepted. A termwork will be graded over 5. It should include at least 5 pages. For more information apply to the mentioned website.

13. There will be no oral examinations. But teacher may give an extra mark for your effort and behaviors in the classroom.

14. Teacher can check your weekly homework. Homework will be graded over 5 if checked. If less than 50% of the questions are answered, it will be assumed that you do not do your homework and will get the value 3. If this percentage is between 50% and 75% then will be graded by 4. On the other hand if this ratio is greater than 75% and mostly answered correctly, it will be awarded by 5. At this moment, teacher can check whether you do it yourself or not by taking you to the black board.

15. Generally on each Saturday at 1330 there will be an extra lesson for the classes that teacher tells. But if there exists no examination for the coming week, there may be no extra lesson at weekend.

16. You cannot rewrite an examination.

17. You cannot show your homework after the lesson.

18. GDS exams will also be taken into account unless stated inverse by the teacher. For any other details of GDS exams you have to ask your questions to the administration.

19. By the deadline of the term, the average of examinations, quizzes, homework and termwork will be your last grade from this lesson.

Class Activities:

1. (8th class) Grouping by two: Two students selected by teacher will help each other to get higher marks studying together (not during an examination). One will be the master; the other will be the student. If the student gets 4 or 5 by the end of the semester then the master will be awarded with two fives of which one is homework grade and the other is teacher’s conviction (opinion) grade.

2. A poster competition is going to take place in this semester. Any group of students (at most 2 students) which prepares a math poster will be given a homework grade. If it is satisfactory the mark will be 4 or else 5. Poster competition’s information can be found at the website www.mathfair.cjb.net.

3. Students can prepare a mathematics project. The project must satisfy the conditions mentioned at the website www.mathfair.cjb.net. For detailed information and useful resources read the instructions at the website named above.

4. (10th class) Another class activity is translating and solving Russian mathematics materials which are told by the teacher. In this activity questions will be translated into English and each question will be solved (again in English). It will be graded over 5 and should be reached to the teacher 2 weeks before the end of the term (teacher must be informed). For more visit the website above.
