Boat trip to the settlement Ikamiut where about 100 people live (Yolanda and Kasper): Hans came to visit us in Ikamiut in his boat. Hans was the local coordinator of our work. Marianne is standing to the left of him:
We are having our first seal meal. From the left it is Yolanda, Rafa, Jeanette and Sabrina: Working on the fence. From the left it is Sabrina, Rafa, Jens-Peter, Jeanette and Yolanda.:
Jens-Peter in front of the local kiosk in Ikamiut. The text on the building is "mikip pisiniarfia".: More pictures on Page 4. |
There were icebergs (Our leader Marianne to the left, Yolanda to the right, the woman in the middle is just another passenger.): ..and time for a little conversation (Jeanette and Jens-Peter, one of the locals we worked with and our super-guide in Ikamiut.) A caputered seal is temporarily conserved in natures big refrigerator. The stomach is cut open, because it is conserved better, when there is water inside as well as outside:
One of the problems the difficult logistic situation causes in Greenland. In the front the dump, to the right of it the old graveyard, and in the back the new cemetery, where we did a little mending on the fence. Jeanette enjoying the sun and the view. It is late in the evening, but the midnight sun makes it hard to tell. The sledge dog to the left of her is chained, but the chain was longer, than we first thought. Marianne came and sat beside Jeanette, and the dog got close enough to bite her boot. She was not hurt, but it was a bit of a surprise: On the way home from Ikamiut, we stoped in a closed settlement, where some people now have summer cottages, and the school in Qasigiannguit has a house, where the small classes go camping.
