Roles and Responsibilities
Mathematics Teachers
** Seek Professional Development (Professional Development)
** Ensure that their classroom environent supports learning for ALL students
** Help students be confident, engaged mathematics learners
** Foster reinforcement by communicating with community members about mathematical goals, students' learning, teaching, and programs.
** Control range of mathematical ideas made available to their students by using available textbooks, support materials, technology, and other instructional resources
** Integrate assessment into instruction using a variety of assessment techniques which evaluate the learning of each student  (Assessment)
Mathematics Students
** Continued effort at making mathematical connections
Mathematics Teacher-Leader ( a specialist positioned between the classroom teachers and administrators who can assist with the improvement of mathematics education.)
** Committment to communicating their understanding
** Sometimes assume the role of teacher on special assignments
** Work directly with other teachers
** Assisiting teachers in building their mathematical and pedagogical knowledge.
** Should have knowledge and expertise to play a role in the design of curriculum framework and the selection of instructional materials.
** Work with administrators and policymakers to help guide ther decisions about the improvement of mathematics education.
School, District, and State or Province Administrators
** Work to create institutions in which teachers have access to human and material resources that will help them attain the goals set out in the Principles and Standards.
** Identify individuals or teams of teachers as leaders in the establishement of mathematics communities.
** Ensure that mathematics expertise and leadership are developed in their schools by supporting and providing professional growth opportunites for teachers.
