YOSHI VALLEY
Short-cuts When you enter the maze section of this course you should stay to the left, you will see a drop off and some item boxes on top of it. Keep an eye on the guard rail on the left side of the track, as soon as it ends you can slide over to the left and onto another part of the track shaving valuable seconds from your time. If you get an unlimited mushroom you will be able to cut to the left when leaving the bridge after the giant Yoshi egg. You will be able to ride the unlimited mushroom until you get to the entrance to the maze again. the following was contributed by: Who says you have to go around the track in Yoshi Valley? With this shortcut, you can cut the entire track out of consideration. Just like most of the tricks that I discover, this one is extremely difficult, but if you want to have a lap score in less than 10 seconds, then try out my technique: First picture an imaginary line extended from the finish line out to the left (does this sound familiar, SMK players? Hint: my KB1 & VL2 shortcuts), and look at the spot where this line meets with another section of track (it's right about where the guardrail ends). This is the spot you will want to aim for. At the start of the course, go straight forward just a little bit until the very first tree on the left is directly to your left. Now turn around so that you are facing the spot that I mentioned above. Note: these locations are only approximate, but with LOTS of practice you'll figure it out. Now use a mushroom and jump just before you start to go down a steep hill. If everything is done correctly, you will jump over the fence and hit the side of the remote track, and then you will fall down into the valley. At this point, Lakitu will tow you back to the finish line. If everything is done with perfect precision, you will skip an entire lap! (Hmm, this really does sound like my KB1 and VL2 shortcuts in SMK). Don't expect this to work the first time you try it. With lots of practice and near-perfect precision, you can get a lap score in less than 10 seconds.
VS/GP Don't leave bannana peels or fake item boxes in the maze unless you know for sure that it will be where a person is going because the chances of another player following your exact path through the maze are slim. it is better to leave them on the narrow trail before the giant Yoshi egg so that they might slide off the edge if they hit the item.
General Info The giant Yashi egg flatens a kart if the player is foolish enough to drive into it.
