Maternal grandmother (Felicia Ridenow) left Darkover to marry (di catenas) to Gareth MacAran against her father's wishes, their daughter (Fiona) married (freemate) to Darin Aldaran-Leynier who had moved to Terra after his twin brother (Davin) committed suicide after discovering that he would never have laran.
