ELLINDA RPG PREVIEW PAGE

Ellinda is your usual Qbasic RPG. Screen 13 Graphics, scrolling Tile Engine. Open Source and Works in QB 1.1. Nothing Special except...

THIS ONE WILL BE FINISHED!

Ellinda will be released in FOUR SEPORATE PARTS, so I don't run into memory problems. Each part uses exactly the same engine, I just change the scripts, maps and tiles.

Ellinda has a powerful (I'm really full of myself today) Script Engine which enables FULL, IN GAME CUTSCENES with NO LOAD TIME (Not that any other games have Load time for Cutscenes, but anyway...=)!

Ellinda's story is not yet finished, but already it's one of the best I've come up with.

There are four main characters to Ellinda, and there will be about six other important characters. The main characters are:

ROTH - Leader, son of the Innkeeper. Likes magic and is VERY loyal.

WORSEL - Blacksmith's son, Roth's best friend, has a great imagination and Spaces out alot.

Cilyyn - Emotional and 'Bossy'. She is Roth's 'competition' for leader of their group. Is an adequate magic user and likes to argue.

Senath - Quiet, backround member of the group. Exellent at Magic but no-one really knows her full potential.

Currently (23 June 2002) Ellinda is 85% Complete:
Story 100%
Graphics 98%
Maps 100%
Walkaround Engine 99%
Fight Engine 30%
I have to do the Enemy sprites for the battles, I have to put the players parents in the town, and I have to put Magic spells into the fight, and the leveling up. The the game has to be fully tested, then I will think about adding Music...

Currently (16 August 2001) Ellinda is 56% Complete:
Story 80%
Graphics 70%
Maps 50%
Walkaround Engine 80%
Fight Engine 0%

I am currently working on the NPC scripts, each NPC will say a random line from a file of thing they can say (Children will pick from one file, Demons from another, etc), and redoing the second layer tiles to have masks (it is more memory consuming, but faster to draw) because if there are more then six second layer tiles on the screen you start to be able to see them being drawn, on my 200mhz machine. I will soon have to buckle down and do some work on the fight engine, I'm already considering a FFVII 3D one... Maybe.
