I know, I know, it's been a REALLY long time since I updated this thing.. but I've been so busy lately that I really haven't had time to update, and then when I did have time, I was doing other things. So let's see.. lots to cover..
Vegas.. I had a horrible time. I was so lonely when I was there that I had to force myself to have fun. We saw two shows while I was there.. Lance Burton's magic show, and Cirque Du Soleil's Mystere.. Lance Burton's show was at the Monte Carlo and I thought it was really good. It was a fun show, and we had FABULOUS seats. I had to laugh at the begining of the show, because he started it off with these sheets that were flying through the air into the audience. It looked like flying rolls of toilet paper.. The show was good, and he got the audience involved too.. During the show he asked the audience "does anyone want to know how I did that?" and some guy yelled back "I do!" and Lance responded with "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you" or something like that.. so the guy yelled back "Tell my wife!".. It was pretty funny..
Mystere on the other hand.. WHOA! Amazing show. I really enjoyed it. If you haven't seen it and don't want to be spoiled, don't read any further..
Before the show even began one of the actors (who if I remember correctly was one of the first performers at Cirque) came out and harrassed the audience. It was hilarious. He was leading people to their seats.. which weren't actually their seats, and people just blindly followed him.. What made things even funnier was the fact that he's lead them right around the theatre and then walk away from them and leave them standing on stage with a spot light on them. It was really funny. Later in the show he came out again and pulled one of the people out of the audience (it was an interlude between the acts I suppose) and ended up sticking him in a box on stage. The cool thing was, he pulled a guy out of the audience who was sitting right behind me.. so I got to see it all.. At the end of his little act he threw confetti on the audience which was in that area.. and I got covered in it.. I thought that was kinda cool.
The acrobats/athletes themselves were absolutely AMAZING. The best part of the show was when these two very muscular men did a 15 minute balancing performance on each other. It was REALLY homoerotic, and I must say, that was a pleasent surprise. Everyone should see it JUST for that.. the two of them were just amazingly beautiful. I really enjoyed them.. <grin>
Anyway, the rest of the trip was rather ho-hum. I was really bummed the whole time because I felt extrodinarily lonely. I don't really know why, but it just wasn't fun. I think that maybe, because I had to REALLY closet myself while I was there made me very uncomfortable and I ended up shutting myself off from everything that was happening around me. It sucked..
OK.. so that was my trip to Vegas.. on to the rest of the stuff that's been going on..
Two nights before I went to Vegas I was kind of bored, so I was just roaming the chatrooms, looking for someone to talk to. As soon as the old guys found out my age they INSTANTLY wanted to cyber with me.. Sorry.. NOT interested! Anyway, I was about to leave when I noticed someone mention that they were 20 or something along those lines.. so I figured I'd send him a private message.. Anyway, we got to talking, and I very rarely give out my e-mail address in chats, but this guy really interested me and got me thinking, so I gave it to him. I went to Vegas, and came back with an e-mail from him. To make a long story short, we've chatted through e-mail and in the chat room for the last few nights.. and I just wanted to mention him.. so, hey Sebio.. :)
I've also been chatting with a guy named Josh.. Josh is from Victoria, and I rarely ever find a Canadian guy around my age in the chats, muchless one from BC.. So, hey Josh! :)
My theatre job is going GREAT. I had my first show Monday night, and it went smashingly if I do say so myself! :) After the show the cast and crew went out for dinner. Maryann, one of the other techies and I went together and we had a fun time. I really like the cast in the production, where last years cast was very exclusionary of the tech crew, this years cast seems more open.. the fact that I know a couple of the actors probably helps, but it's been a much better experience. The fact that I'm ASM kicks ass too.. I'm really enjoying this show.. Oh, and that cute guy that I was talking about (the one Maryann refered to as my boyfriend in my guestbook.. <glare> heh.. you know.. the 16 year old..) well, he forgot to bring his boots on Monday night, so he ended up borrowing mine, and I had to wear his shoes.. It was really strange, and to make things even more hilarious.. the shoes he was wearing are the same pair of Airwalks that I wear.. It was kinda funny.. :) |

Working on this show has been a GREAT experience for me. Last year I worked at the same theatre and didn't have NEARLY as much fun as I'm having this year. It all depends on the people working on the show.. and this years cast and crew is absolutely fabulous! They've made it such a joy to come and work with them, whereas, last year I had fun, but I did my own thing.
Last Friday, a couple of us went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was a lot of fun.. I had to lick a papermache (how do you spell it?) penis with a flavoured condom on it.. I couldn't taste any flavour though.. it was APPARENTLY coconut.. I don't believe it! :) Anyway, after the show, Maryann introduced me to the cast and we went out after the show.. (it was aprox 2 am, and the only thing open was Denny's.. EWWW!) Tonight, Maryann, Becky (one of the actors in the show who I've become particularly good friends with) and some of the people that I met Friday night and I went out after the show finished tonight. It was fun.. especially since tonights show was a complete and absolute disaster backstage.. I would like to say that it wasn't all my fault, but to a degree it was.. I should have maintained better control of the people backstage, but, in my defense.. it's hard to do that when I can only walk 2 meters at the most, because my headset wires only let me go that far. Anyway.. a complete technical disaster tonight.. I'm going to be writing a LONG list of things that I expect. A show like tonight is NOT going to happen again.
On the bright side.. I've now been asked by TWO people to do shows next year.. One is Hello Dolly at a REAL theatre.. not an amature theatre like the one I'm working in right now.. So I'm REALLY seriously considering it.. I think that it's be A LOT of fun to do.. and I think I'd actually get PAID.. We'll see what happens..
Oh, before I forget.. Quinn, thank you for last night.. I know I've thanked you privately, but I want to publicly thank you for helping me last night.. You're a peach! :) |
