WHO ARE THE STEREOPHONICS?

The Stereophonics hail from a small village called Cwmaman, close to Aberdare in South Wales. The members Kelly Jones, Richard Jones and Stuart Cable have been friends all their lives after growing up in the same street. The debut album 'Word Gets Around' was released on August 26th 1997 and got to number 6 in the charts. Their second album 'Performance and Cocktails' was released on March 8th 1999 and got to number 1. Since then the band have been nominated for and won numerous awards and become one of the biggest British bands around today.

March 2001 - Mr Writer, the first release from 3rd album JEEP, reaches number 5 in UK charts. Bad news follows when Stereophonics are told that their Chepstow gig cannot go ahead due to Foot And Mouth disease. The gig is changed to Cardiff's Millenium Stadium.

April 2001 - JEEP is released and, despite very mixed reviews, goes straight to the top of the charts!
