Juvenile Diabetes Association of Rochester
The Rochester New York chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1996. Since then the organization has grown dramatically and currently raises more than $1,400,000 on a local level through donations, major gifts sponsorships and fundraising events. The Rochester Chapter includes the following counties: Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, Yates, Chemung, Steuben, Livingston and Schuyler.
Major fundraising events include the WALK TO CURE DIABETES in Rochester and the Southern Tier and the Hope for a Cure Gala in Rochester. In 2007 the WALK TO CURE DIABETES raised more than $700,000 in the Rochester and Southern Tier areas with the help of more than 300 WALK TEAMS!
Between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away in a year. The mission at the National Runaway Switchboard is to help keep America’s runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets. The National Runaway Switchboard 24-hour crisis line has an experienced front-line team member ready to help at any time, day or night. It’s anonymous, confidential and free.

Founded in 1959 by Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, Childhelp® is a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. Childhelp’s approach focuses on prevention, intervention and treatment. The Childhelp® National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-4-A-CHILD, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receives calls from throughout the United States, Canada, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam. Childhelp’s programs and services also include residential treatment services (villages); children’s advocacy centers; therapeutic foster care; group homes; child abuse prevention, education and training; and the National Day of Hope®, part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month every April.
Founded in 2004 by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie to honor their late son Adam, the Victory Junction Gang Camp has been a raging success since its inception. Open year round, their mission is to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. As a member of Paul Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, Victory Junction serves children and families from all across the United States. Thanks to the generous donations of corporations, individuals and foundations, no child or family pays to attend camp! |
