It is a common misconception that Astrology relates to the study of planetary influences. With the exceptions of the Sun and the Moon, planetary influences are not directly observable or are extremely weak. On this basis, the scientific community generally dismisses the validity of this ancient art. So how does it work? To think in terms of mechanical forces (gravitational pull, electro-magnetism, etc) only leads to confusion. This causal approach soon proves useless to anyone with a basic understanding of conventional scientific methods and when subjected to the scrutiny of critical analysis. However, there are events and processes that appear to be related to each other without being caused by one another. For example, premonitory dreams can warn us against taking a certain course of actions or about a forthcoming event but certainly do not cause them. The celebrated 20th century pioneering psychologist Carl Gustav Jung studied and described this phenomenon and published his findings in his book "Synchronicity – An a-causal connecting principle” (Ark – first published in 1952). Seen in this light, Astrology is not the study of a linear and causal relationship between the biosphere and the planets but the reflection of processes symbolised by the planets and by their interplay manifesting in the individual’s psyche. Over the years, these synchronistic phenomena have been noticed, studied and expressed in different ways by various cultures. In China, universal connectedness has been encapsulated in the “I Ching or book of changes” and in Chinese Taoism and Chinese alchemy. In the West, the alchemical tradition expresses synchronistic principles in a hermetic language designed to protect the authors from the wrath of political and religious authorities. Judaism gave us the Kabala. Astrology is just one of these tools. Astrological charts can be calculated for just about anything. Countries, companies, business or artistic projects, partnerships, animals and of course, individuals all have a birth chart that can be relied on to obtain information. However, it is crucial to understand that your astrological reading can only be as good as the astrologer you elect for the task. Timing is without a doubt, one of the most precious gift astrology can offer. The motion of the planets and their relationship reflects key-moments in growth or decay for whichever entity or person the astrological chart is calculated and interpreted. Astrology can be of great assistance with exposing psychological complexes, outlining strengths and weaknesses and revealing untapped potentials. Additionally, comparing two or more birth charts can reveal the degree of compatibility existing between two or more persons. Astrology can also be used to detect your body’s strengths and weaknesses. It is likely that medical conditions will be reflected in the birth chart. The study of your chart can reveal the likely course of the disease and is also helpful in choosing a treatment. Moreover, astrology is also useful in electing a time for an intervention. Astrology can be a powerful tool to assist in making important decisions for your company. Is it time for a change in corporate image? Consolidate your position in the market? Launch new products? All these questions can be answered with astrology. Additionally, astrology can assist you with selecting a new partner or employee. |
