2002 Maursett News

Scroll down for some of the key news events from the Maursett kennels during the year 2002:
3 December 2002 - Clumber Spaniels: Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some, but this is certainly a day to remember as Riff Raff receives the Dog Challenge Certificate (that all important third CC) and Best of Breed at the LKA Championship show (Judge - Mrs Gina Bowers).  After 12 months which have seen Maureen involved in a serious car crash and major surgery for Tony, it is a fabulous ending to our year.  Very many thanks to the three breed specialist judges who have awarded Riff Raff (Sh Ch Maursett Mindsapint) his title.  Our young bitch, Maursett Morveena also won the junior bitch class to complete a very satisfying day.
09  November 2002 -   Maureen judges Clumber Spaniels at the Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Championship Show. She awards the Dog CC to May Wood-Dowson and Peter Dowson's Blynblay Its Only Mee, his first CC following on from 6 Reserve CCs.  The Bitch CC, another first time CC winner, went to Linda McGillivrays's Heibax Sunrise Special of Antonine and Best Puppy to Paul & Hilda Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Top Gunner, who later went on to get Puppy Group 4 from Best In Show Judge Chris Bexon.
28 September  2002 -   Tony judges German Shorthaired Pointers, English Setters and Gordon Setters at Edwinstowe & District Canine Society's Open Show.  Awards Best of Breed GSP to Whiting & Hodgkinson's Rodale Velvet (this quality bitch went on to win the Gundog Group under group judge Mrs Dawn Gourtorbe); Best Puppy GSP Exford's Jaeford Evita. English Setter Best of Breed awarded to Keith & Cheryl Smith's Soberhill Starlite Blue JW; they also took Best Puppy with their Soberhill Storm Dragon, going on to win Group 4 in the Gundog Puppy group judging.  Tony found his Best of Breed Gordon Setter in  Bateman's Arborsette Ginko Biloba at Penllech, with the Best Puppy being Doyle's Settaside The Ring Wraith.  A big thank you from Tony to all concerned for an excellent and high quality entry (especially nice for Tony as they came from our original breeds!).
