Part 29

The last day of the year started on a rather happy note.

Shawn woke, cuddled up to Chris, beyond happy at the direction his life had turned in. He had the pleasure of waking Chris that morning rather than the other way around. At this rate, he might just turn into a disgustingly happy morning person like his lover...

Nah, it'd never happen.

Twinges in his body made him groan quietly as it reminded him that he'd skipped working out the last few days. It had been completely worth it, having given him that much more time to get to know more about Chris, but it couldn't go on forever. With a grimace, he ran a slow hand over Chris' backside before giving him a sharp swat.

"Ow. Brutal, babe. I thought Kevin was the one big on the kinky stuff."

Receiving another sharp swat on the behind, Chris lifted his head and eye-balled his lover.

"I'm trying to get your butt moving. We're both hitting the gym today before I'm required to explain to Vince how you ended up putting on ten pounds before the pay per view."

Shawn didn't miss Chris' outraged expression.

"Are you trying to tell me that I'm getting...fat?"

"Now, now sweetheart, I'd never call you fat. Pleasingly plump? Maybe...but never fat."

In less than five seconds, Shawn was flat on his back with a scowling Chris on top of him.

"Pleasingly plump, eh? I'm still fit enough to pin the notorious HBK," he said with a satisfied grin.

"Oh you can pin me anytime. It's not like I'm going to fight it, after all."

They both laughed for a moment before Chris planted a thorough good-morning kiss on the man beneath him.

"C'mon old man, I'll race you to the gym..."

Chris jumped off the bed and headed out the door into the hallway. Shawn started counting backwards from five and made it to one just as a blushing Chris returned to the room and headed for a pair of sweatpants. Shawn remained in a reclining position on the bed and grinned at his lover.

"I may be getting older, but at least I remember to put on clothes. Working out naked could be interesting, but I doubt we'd get the kind of workout that we had planned."

Chris stuck his tongue out at Shawn and walked back into the hallway, now wearing a pair of tight blue sweats.

****

As it turned out, their workout was cut short anyway. The lure of Shawn's hot, sweaty body turned out to be too much for Chris. That and the fact that Shawn had straddled his lap while he was supposed to be spotting Chris on the weight bench. Luckily he hadn't been lifting a huge amount of weight at the time and had managed to bar the weights without dropping them on his head.

The two of them had quickly commenced another type of workout...one that would end with them hotter and sweatier than any workout they could get from lifting weights or running a treadmill.

Chris and Shawn quickly shed their clothes between bone-melting kisses. Once they were both naked, Shawn straddled the bench, his hands curled around the end, his arms braced to support his upper body. Chris slid into position behind him, using baby oil to quickly prepare Shawn while kissing his neck and shoulders.

"Please, Chris, " Shawn murmured as he turned to nip at Chris' lower lip. "Don't make me wait."

With a groan of impatience, Chris quickly slicked his shaft and then pushed his hard length into his lover's entrance. Wrapping his arms around Shawn's waist, Chris grabbed hold of the bench between Shawn's thighs for leverage. He'd just started a series of slow-grinding thrusts when he heard the sound of the door to the gym opening. He ignored the intrusion, figuring that it was most likely Sean. He was quickly losing his shyness over being watched, finding it rather erotic in fact, so he didn't give it a second thought. Concentrating on Shawn, he twisted his hips, earning a deep moan from his lover.

"Hey Glen, you aren't going to get much of a workout from standing in the doorway. What are you looking...."

Chris hid a grin against Shawn's neck as he lifted a hand to wrap around Shawn's solid shaft. Shawn, despite his preoccupation with Chris' wandering hand, flashed a quick look in the direction of the door. Glen seemed like he'd been pole-axed and he looked very nice in the shade of red coloring his cheeks. They'd get him used to their little group in no time at all if the big man had a penchant for watching. Kev might appreciate that. Shawn started to laugh, but it was cut short by a well-aimed thrust from Chris, the bubble of laughter melting into a husky gasp as Shawn's arm lifted to curl around the back of Chris' neck.

"I...we...you...aw hell."

If Shawn hadn't been so busy fighting the urge to explode on the spot, he'd have laughed. He'd save it up for later.

The door clanged shut, signaling the departure of Sean and Glen. Chris finally altered his pace, turning it up a notch or two and Shawn lunged backward to meet his thrusts. Bright lights flashed before his eyes as Chris pummeled his prostate and Shawn was helpless to fight the pull of his impending orgasm. With a howl, he exploded, his seed covering Chris' hand, his own stomach, and the bench in front of him. Chris followed shortly after with a loud moan of Shawn's name.

As Chris lay with his head against Shawn's spine, Shawn flat on his stomach on the weight bench beneath him, he mentally added the home gym to the list of rooms they had christened so far. It was beginning to add up to a mighty impressive list. And they hadn't even hit most of the upstairs bedrooms yet. They'd have to work on those next week. He wondered if Glen and Sean would still be around and whether poor Glen would survive walking in on them at all times. If he didn't, at least it was one hell of a way to go, Chris thought with a grin.

"You should have seen Glen's face..." Shawn said quietly.

Almost simultaneously, Chris and Shawn burst into laughter. It was kind of scary that they thought so much alike.

****

Chris had managed to drag a reluctant Shawn to the kitchen so that they could start preparing supper. As they walked through the doors of the kitchen, they saw Sean sitting at the table...with a lobster sitting in front of him. Chris groaned as he remembered Shawn's tease about Kid making one of them a pet. Hopefully, he wouldn't have too hard a time talking the dark-haired man into tossing the thing in the pot.

Shawn rolled his eyes and walked over to give the animal a closer look until he noticed that Sean had taken the bands off the claws and was now trying to tease the creature into grabbing onto a pencil. He jumped slightly as the animal skittered back a short distance on the table in his direction.

"He'll look much better once he's covered in butter and lemon wedges."

Sean stuck his tongue out at his friend and reached to pick the creature up by the middle. Shawn took a few steps backward and eyed Sean warily as the lobster made a grab for Sean's hand. Chris snickered and wandered over to the cupboards to find a large pot to boil water in.

He had just finished filling two pots and put them on the stove to boil when he heard Shawn screech behind him.

"Get that damn thing away from me!"

Flicking a glance over his shoulder, he laughed at the picture of Shawn, now holding the pencil like a sword, trying to ward off Sean and the lively lobster.

"Are you still playing with that thing, Sean?" Glen asked as he walked into the kitchen, his face showing just a tinge of pink as he caught sight of Shawn and Chris. Ignoring the two men as his lover backed Shawn around the table, Glen walked over to Chris who was now searching for additional pots.

"Need a hand?" the tall man asked, his face darkening a shade a moment after he'd said it. "With the cooking I mean!" he burst out in a rush.

Chris laughed and handed him a pan for the clam chowder. "Can you cook?"

"Actually I'm pretty damn good at it." Glen said with a small smile.

Chris handed him the pouches of frozen chowder and a bag of red potatoes. He turned to fill another pot for the corn on the cob. "You could have stayed to watch, you know," Chris said with a smirk as he turned back to the stove. Then he laughed when one of the pans clattered against the countertop.

"I don't know man. It may be awhile before I could even think of being comfortable about...that kind of thing." Slanting a look at Glen, Chris found him chewing on his lip. "Weren't you...I don't know...embarrassed about it at first?"

"Well, yeah, at first...but I actually found that I...well...I like it." It was Chris' turn to blush now, though it wasn't as bad as it would have been a few short days ago.

"Ow! Hey! Get it off!"

Glen and Chris both turned around to find the lobster attached to Shawn's shirt and Sean bent over laughing like a loon. Walking across the room, Chris rolled his eyes and set about detaching the animal from Shawn's shirt while Shawn promised dire retribution.

"You are so dead, Kid. I'm stuffing you down the laundry chute and I'm not going to bother getting you out this time either!"

Glen and Chris exchanged a look of amusement as Sean finally stopped laughing and ran for the door. As soon as Shawn was set free, he tore out of the room after the smaller man.

"Sean! Get back here, you little shit!"

Chris turned Glen with a grin. "You going after them?"

Glen shrugged and turned back to the pan on the counter. "Nah. I'll go fish him out in a little bit."

****

He hadn't dumped him down the laundry chute.

Chris wasn't sure exactly what Shawn had done until Sean came back in the room laughing about the really old things to be found in Shawn's closet. Glen was smirking, Shawn was pouting, and Chris just couldn't help laughing. Kid had discovered Shawn's ring gear and since Shawn had left him to sit in the closet there was obviously only one solution...to put on Shawn's clothes.

Of course Shawn had never worn them to the ring the way that Sean was wearing them now... with nothing on under them. And it was just common sense that Sean had to pick what was probably one of the weirdest, dare Chris say ugliest, outfits that Shawn had had in there. It looked damn familiar, but that didn't surprise Chris at all. He couldn't count the hours he'd spent watching Shawn's old matches on tape, but...

"Didn't you wear that at one of the Wrestlemanias? I can't remember which one, but..."

"It was from Wrestlemania 10..." Shawn mumbled quietly, not losing the pout at all.

"Damn Shawn, those things are ol..." Glen started to say, until Shawn lost his patience.

"They are not old, they're just a little...aged," he said, his pout getting becoming even more pronounced, if possible.

"Well no matter what you call it, they're still ugly as sin," Chris announced with a smile.

"They are not ugly...okay, yes they are, but they were cool when I wore them." A small smile finally broke through on the blond's face. "I see the food is done. Sean, go put some clothes on."

"No."

"No? How the hell am I supposed to eat knowing that you're sitting there half naked," Shawn asked with a smirk.

Everyone laughed as Glen suddenly took a seat at the table, his face flushing a bright red.

"At least we know what Glen's thinking," Shawn said, his smile growing even brighter.

Glen's answer was a deep growl, but Shawn got the point.

"Hey, sweetheart. I saved this plate special just for you." Chris grinned shamelessly as he set a plate on the table in front of an empty seat. "I figured this way you could take revenge against that nasty old lobster for trying to cop a feel."

Shawn growled at Chris as he took his seat. Chris just laughed.

****

After eating way too much food, they had cleared the table and loaded the dishes in the dishwasher. Sean and Shawn volunteered to wash the pans since they'd skipped out on the cooking. After the mess was cleaned up, they all settled down to play poker at the kitchen table while watching the countdown to the New Year. They kept it low stakes because none of them were very good at it, which they figured out within a few short hands.

A few glasses of sweet red wine and half a blueberry cheesecake later, they broke the game and headed into the den to watch the ball drop in Times Square. With five minutes to go they popped open a bottle of champagne and filled their glasses though they each knew that the crystal wouldn't be the first thing to touch their lips at midnight.

Before Chris could even manage to say Happy New Year, Shawn had pulled him into a long, slow kiss. Chris wasn't complaining at all. When they finally pulled apart, they reached for their glasses. Chris lifted his to Shawn and said, "To our first New Year's together. I never thought I'd get to spend one with you, love, but damn am I glad to be here."

Shawn smiled and raised his own glass. "To the first of many, because I plan on spending all of them with you from now on."

They were taking their first sips when they were met with applause and 'ohs and ahs' from the other couple in the room. Chris and Shawn flashed a look at each other and set down their glasses. Almost simultaneously they launched themselves at the two men ensconced on the couch.

Glen was fire engine red a few minutes later. He couldn't quite pinpoint the cause though. The rather enthusiastic kiss that the two men had laid on him, or watching the torrid kisses that they'd planted on his lover. Or maybe it was because he hadn't really minded either one.

The other three men hid smiles of amusement, not wanting to embarrass the poor guy more than he already was.

A few minutes later, Sean and Glen excused themselves and Chris and Shawn piled onto the sofa to cuddle and sip their champagne.

Life was good. Things were going their way. Now all they had to do was keep it that way.

To be continued...
