Name:Gene Wilson

Team Mopar's Gene Wilson is new to the NHRA circuit in the 2002 season. Fresh out of the IHRA circuit, Gene is the 2001 IHRA Pro Stock Champion. He captured eight IHRA national event titles, tying legendary drag racer Bob Gidden for the most wins in one season, and he holds IHRA's national elapsed time and speed records.

Throughout the years, Wilson qualified number one in a record nine-straight national events and holds both elapsed time and speed records at nine different tracks. His margin of victory in the championship points race last year was almost 500 points over his closest competition.

Putting an NHRA veteran together with a rookie is great for the chemistry of the team. Wilson is honored to be a part of Team Mopar and Nickens Bros. Racing, driving the Mopar Parts Neon R/T.

Wilson also affirmed that one of the biggest thrills for him personally is that he has now formed a close racing association with one of his boyhood driving idols, Darrell Alderman.

"I grew up loving drag racing and I eat, breathe and drink the sport," Wilson confided "One of my biggest heroes watching the sport on TV when I was young was Darrell Alderman. I'm just in awe that now I get to be his teammate. Soon after I came aboard, Darrell was quick to offer and advice I wanted. I promise you, I will be using that a lot." The Hemiā Dodge R/Ts are designed to become the class of an exciting and aggressive field in NHRA Pro Stock Competition. Mopar has spent a huge amount of time refining the mechanical parts, as well as the exterior sheet metal. The result is a Pro Stock Dodge R/T that is fast and gorgeous. With Mopar Hemiā V-8 power under the skin and an estimated weight of 2350 pounds, the Pro Stock powerhouses are as potent as they are sleek. The cars punch a very clean hole in the air - important when you are driving to upwards of 200 mph or better in only 1320 feet.
