One of the more evident themes of Jesus' humanity that I think is apparent in Mark's gospel is Jesus as the "Son of Man". There are many times throughout Mark's gospel, and the other gospels as well, that Jesus declares himself as the "Son of Man" rather than the Christ or the Son of God. Though there is a deeper meaning to the name "Son of Man", connecting to the book of Daniel, it was a name that the people could relate to rather than if Jesus had simply told everyone from the start that he was the Lord.
Compassion, Anger, Sorrow, Tenderness, Anxiety... These are all evident emotions of Jesus throughout the gospel, They are common human emotions that we feel in our everyday lives allowing us to relate better to how Jesus must have felt at particular times during the gospel story. This website contains some brief information and overviews of Mark's Gospel. On that website it says, "The emotions of compassion, severity, anger, sorrow, tenderness and love are all attributed to him (1:41,43; 3:5; 8:12,33; 10:14,16,21). There is no doubt that this is a gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, as well as the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (1:1)." I think one of the most evident of them would be his anxiety, When Jesus goes to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray before his arrest we can only imagine the anxiety building within him, knowing that he is about to be arrested and put to death. "Mark also shows the emotions of Jesus unedited, attributing frustration and anger to him where the other evangelists avoid or soften the response." this quote comes from another site with information on the Gospel of Mark.
There are frequently times when Jesus shows compassion for his people and their children without merely curing someone or doing another miracle. There are times when he eats with the poor and sinners, not the rich and wealthy people. He talks to the Pharisees and questions their hypocrisy, during the stories of the feeding of the five thousand and four thousand people, aside from the miracle he performs, jesus was concerned about the people, realizing they needed to eat, and not wanting to make them leave and find their own food.
Jesus doesn't boast about his powers to heal, he doesn't make himself out to be an allpowerful Lord and King. He merely seems as a normal human or a simple healer and teacher. He ask those who truly know his gift not to tell anyone just yet for the world isn't ready. He normally walks evrywhere with his apostles and disciples, he doesn't make them walk while he rides a donkey, or make them cary him around as a king.
