Samurai X aka Rurounin Kenshin

 Kenshin Himura is a simple wandering samurai. A samurai without a master or a rounin, he wander aimlessly with his trusted sakaboto (reversed blade katana). By coincidence he bum into a young girl and saved her life. The girl Kaoru ask him to stop his wandering and stay with her as away to repay her debt to him. Thus begin the uneventful adventure of the wandering samurai. This is pretty much an action anime, with a good dose of humor plus some romance. One of the best samurai theme animes since Ninja Scroll. I highly recommend it to anyone who love samurai/ninja theme anime.

Too bad the TV series collection that I have is not of high quality. Some of the episodes were quite bad that I had to throw it away. Currently I'm in the process of downloading higher quality version of this popular anime to replace some of it. However the OVA version is of very good quality.

Shaman King

Shaman King is a anime about a young boy named Yoh Asakura, who came all the way to Tokyo to train to be a Shaman King. Shaman is a person who can communicate and act as a medium for ghost and spirit. They battle each other using their furyoku with the aid of their main spirit. Pretty much like Pokemon battle or the medabot battles, but it was way cooler. To be frank this anime rocks. The animation is pretty standard but the story line is very interesting. Overall a good anime. Need I say more?

Slam Dunk (Tv series, OVA1,2,3,4)

 Any basketball fans would have heard of this awesome anime (in M'sia anyway). It's about a group of misfits from the Shohoku High who overcome all the obstacle to enter the National Basketball Championship. I especially loved that wacky Sakuragi Hanamichi (red hair dude on the left). Even thou I don't particularly like basketball but I find this anime highly entertaining. You might have noticed that some of the characters look very Afro. Perhaps there is some influence from US basketball teams?

Spiral : Suiri no Kizuna

Spiral is a mystery detective story serialized on Gangan magazine. The main character of the story are Madoka Narumi, her younger brother, Ayumu Narumi and Kiyono Yuizaki, a nosy girl who runs newspaper publication in the high school. Together, they are trying to solve mystery by reasoning and putting even the smallest clues together. I find this anime rather slow paced. Although it does have a few "Mc Gyver's moment" in the series but it was not enough to make this anime out-standing. The animation is good but the story line lack certain substance.  For me it was a rather boring anime. Yawn.......!!!! But if detective story is your cup of tea, by all mean go ahead.

Stellvia of the Universe

 Earth suffered a major cataclysmic disaster that almost wipe out the whole planet during the first wave of the supernova. Thankfully some survive. The survivor had band together and try to save earth from the second wave of the supernova that consist of ionize particle. This anime is a story about the life of Katase Shima, a prodigy, as the new recruit to the ark ship Stellvia as she work to save earth from the incoming second wave. The animation is not bad but the storyline then to get a bit moppy sometimes. Anyway if you're into school kid romance - science fiction theme, then this anime is for you. As for me....well ...Ok I guess but you won't see me rewatching it anytime soon.

Tenshi Muyo OVA 1

 Actually there are a lot of version of Tenshi Muyo out there. The one that I have is the first version of Tenshi Muyo. It is because of the success of this first OVA that spawn the Tenshi Muyo Tv series, 2nd OVA and 2 movies (including Tenshi Muyo in Love). In this version, Ryoko is awaken by Tenshi, and because of this Ryoko kindda fell in love with him. Enter Ayeka, Tenshi's great aunt (I think. The Jurai family relationship is rather complicated), who want nothing more than to avenge her brother, who is also her fiance. (Rather mess up family if you ask me!!) It seems Ryoko is kindda responsible for Jurai homeworld destruction and Ayeka's brother death. As it happen Ayeka's brother isn't dead and in fact he had a grandson, Tenshi. A very funny animes even though the mess up relationship.

Tenshi na Konamaiki (Cheeky Angel)

Megumi is a 6 year old boy who love to fight. One day he met an old man who gave him a magic book. Unknown to him the book is cursed. He make a wish using the book's genie, instead of granting his wish, the genie reversed the wish turning Megumi from a boy into a girl. 10 years later, Megumi is now a very beautiful girl. This anime followed the story of Megumi as she tried to cope with the life of a average high school girl while looking for a way to lift the cursed placed upon her by the genie. A rather funny comedy anime. I rather like this anime. It is funny to see how Megumi tries to be boyish but ended up looking cute. The animation is also very smooth. Overall a very good funny anime.

Tokyo Underground

 Beneath the streets of Tokyo, way down below the abandoned subway tunnels, far down deep into the darkness, there is another world. It is a dark, forgotten world, the Tokyo Underground. From this world, two exhausted figures come running. Chelsea Rourke and Ruri Sarasa are involved in a desperate conflict. They are escaping from the underground world and forces of evil are hot on their heels. By chance the sought refuge in Rumina house, thus bringing Rumina into the conflict. Overall this anime is quite entertaining. The animation and soundtrack is nothing special. If you are looking for a short nice anime, this is the one. Just remember not to expect much from this anime.

Vandread 1st and 2nd Stage

 Life sucks for Hibiki. Intergalactic society has broken into civil war between males and females; he's stuck on the assembly line for war mecha, relentlessly teased by his co-workers and unable to pursue his dreams of building his own mecha one day. He finally decides he's had enough though, and attempts to break in and steal a mech for his own purposes; this turns out to be a bad idea, thrusting him into the middle of a fever-pitch space battle that brings him face to face with the enemy and launches him into an adventure that will change his mundane life forever. This is truly a great anime. It combine the old method of making animes with 3D computer generated graphics. Truly the best of both world. I greatly recommend it to any mech fan out there. By the way Dita is so cute too.

Witch Hunter Robin

There are witches in the world. There are bad witches, there are good witches. This anime followed the story of a young witch (Robin) who was sent to Japan by the Solomon's Witch Management Organization, to assist the local witch hunter there. As she work in Japan, she begin to realize there is more into the Solomon's agenda than simple witch hunting. Will she help her own kind or continue to prosecute the so called bad witches. This anime got a great story line combine with good animation. The gothic atmosphere setting of the anime really suit the dark storyline of this anime. Overall a great anime

You are under Arrest (Season 2)

I first saw this anime in AXN several months ago and I found out that it is quite entertaining. The story is about a group of traffic polices of the Bokuto Station's daily life. Like any anime, there are a macho girl with a smart compose girls as partners, a gossiper, a motor cycle freak, a crazy vigilante and of course a dumpy looking head of department. (kindda remind me of another anime....). Anyway the storyline is quite fresh and the animation is none too crappy. I like the soundtrack too. If you have watch season 1, you'll find season 2 even more outrages and hilarious.
